I've come across and have owned plenty of preowned VMUs throughout 2000 all the way until this very day. I have either purchased them on their own, but more often than not, they are supplied thru various types of Dreamcast related bundles I've purchased from ebay, craigslist or at my local retro games stores. I've even found a few in vacant homes.
Perhaps its just me... but I always get this sense of morbid curiosity and excitment when I get a preowned VMU... Why?
I find it facinating to see what game save files I discover before I proceed to reformat. I just get a kick in seeing what the previous owner of the VMU was into playing on their Dreamcast before they decided to perhaps move on and sell their stuff. IDK why but I find it VERY interesting to get a sense of someone you perhaps never met... to get a glimpse of what they were into when they were playing on one of your favorite system and around what time during their gamer phase. I've owened preowned VMUs that contained nothing but Sports games exclusively (one file LOL!), or NESTER and emulators config files, or Sega First party titles only, or nothing but racing game save files, and so on.
So going back to my question. What does your main VMU (or your 3rd Party Memory Card) say about the DC gamer in you? Would it reveal an eclectic taste in DC games, would it say your a racing fanatic or perhaps a homebrew junkie or shmup fan?
