BACKGROUND Toshin Daibukai is a tournament for fighters held in the underworld every few years. Any weapon is allowed other than firearms, making this fight to the death without a doubt the ultimate tournament for deciding the strongest fighter in the world. Whether you consider the location of the tournament or the number of fighters entered, this contest is of a great scale, but word of the tournament has never been spread around. The orga- nization that organizes the tournament has decided all of the participants in advance, sending them - and only them - invitations to the fight. However, rumour has it that this organization was dissolved after the last tournament, but the truth is not yet known. Now, the tournament is about to be held again. Who is behind the scenes? And for what evil purpose? The fate of the fighters is yet to be seen. GETTING STARTED 1. Insert the game cartridge into your GAMEBOY and switch the power on. 2. You will see the Title screen in the display. If you press the Start button while this screen is displayed or during the demo, you will be shown a menu including these selections : 1P GAME, VS HUMAN, VS CPU, OPTIONS. 3. Rope gauge : If this gauge drops to zero and your character moves, or is thrown of the ring, your character is "out of the ring", and you lose the round. CONTROLLING A CHARACTER Select Button : not used Start Button : * Setting game mode at the Title screen * Pause, continue A Button : Kick B Button : Punch D-pad : (when a character is facing to the right) Up - Jump Down - Crouch Right - Forward Left - Backwards Left Down - Guard Low The strength of your attack can be controlled by how log you hold down the attack button. If you press and the button, you will have greater power in your attack. Throw : Back - Forward + B or A (When a character is facing to the right) When close to your opponent, push the D-pad either left or right and the B button (you can also use the A button to throw). Dash : Forward - Forward (When a character is facing to the right) By quickly pushing the D-pad twice in the forward direction, you can dash at your opponent. Backstep : Back - Back (When a character is facing to the right) By quickly pushing the D-pad twice in the backward direction, you can quickly backstep from your opponent. Effective when you want to get out of your opponent's way or throw off your opponent's attack. Dodging : Down - Down or AB (same time) By quickly pushing the D-pad twice in the down direction or by pushing the A and B buttons at the same time without pushing the D-pad, your character will avoid all attacks but the throwing attack for a specified time. Strike : AB (same time) Push the A and B buttons at the same time to unleash a powerful strike on your opponent. Provoke : Down +AB (short time) While pushing the D-pad in the down direction, press both the A and B buttons, letting up quickly, and each of your character will strike a pose to inflame and provoke your opponent. Easy-command special move : D-pad +AB (same time) This is done by pushing the D-pad and the A and B buttons simultaneously. Ordinarily, players move the D-pad and then push both the A and B buttons to deliver a special move, but in this game you must be pushing the D-pad in one direction when you hit both A and B buttons simultaneously. An easy- command special move can be delivered by pressing both the A and B buttons in advance The secret special move can be used when the character's strength gauge is flashing. SPECIAL FEATURES Out-of-ring feature If any part of a character's body falls out of the ring, that character loses the match. There are invisible ropes around the ring to prevent you from falling out. However, the ropes can only support you about three times. If you fall against the ropes three times in the same match, the ropes will dissolve, and the next time you will fall out of the ring. When the rope dissolves, the Rope gauge will begin to flash, indicating that the next time you will not be saved. Cancelling technique While fighting with normal techniques, one can deliver a special move and return to normal fighting without leaving oneself open to counter attack. This technique is called "cancelling", and it requires good timing. This technique can also be used to apply normal fighting techniques one after another. If you can master the timing for this technique, your skills will become more polished. Attacking from behind. Occasionally, by avoiding or jumping over an opponent, you may find yourself in a position to attack from behind. The damage caused when attacking from behind is one and a half times the normal amount. So, a secret special move from behind must be really painful! GAME MODE Mode select : Select one of three different modes. "VS HUMAN" can only be selected when using a connecting cable or a Super GAMEBOY.
