New World is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Amazon Games Orange County and published by Amazon Games released on September 28, 2021.
To tell the truth, I like New World. A LOT. So much that it made me unsub from WoW (after playing both classic through retail versions for 15 years). If you're craving an mmo with a breath of fresh air and try something new, this is it!
I've picked a low pop server in New World and never deal with excessive queue times, and even my server has plenty of players running around to make it feel like a lively world. The combat system is actually not as bad as everyone makes it out to be; It's not as smooth as WoW, but it is leagues better than SWTOR and other clunky mmos.
My absolute favorite aspects of New World is that all professions matter (you're not limited to choosing what you want to do), and there is no class so you can "spec" into dps, heals, or tank whenever you want! You certainly have to grind the skills to make 'em worthwhile, and you have to get enough New World Gold, but they are also part of the fun I think.
Some downsides of New World:
Character customization could be a little better; very limited options to work with and there's no in-game barber shop to change your character's look (yet). If they added this feature, along with the option to change your gender when you want, that would be sweet!
I think player toxicity is one of the negative aspects of every mmorpg with pvp involved, and this game is no exception; open world mic was definitely a bad idea imo, but you can turn this option off (not sure why it was made default at the start).
A few bugs here and there (that is already being addressed by devs), but overall this feels like a well designed game that benefits solo players and people who want to play in groups, good game for pve'ers and pvp'ers. I'm intrigued to see how this game evolves over time and definitely want to experience its endgame.
