Finding secret doors

To find all of the secret doors, in level 3 get the red key and go out through the door you came in. Then look for the red chest. You will get an item called the horn. What does this do you might be asking? This will reveal any secret door in the game. You don't see anything when you press Select to use it, but you hear a noise, that means one is close by.

Warp back to Level 1 trick

At the very left edge of the second forest scene, tap Up quickly and repeatedly to levitate and stop levitating rapidly. If done right you will go through the side of the screen and back into the first forest. Continue playing as normal and as you beat the earlier stages again you will rescue the princesses from higher stages. After a few more stages you will rescue the final princess.

Finding the red key in the Red Lava Caves

If you're stuck in the Red Lava Caves, you'll need to find the Red Key first. First head to the right hand portion of the second, or right, lava cave. Above you is a vertical passageway leading up. Use the fire bubbles to ride as far up as you can go, and then jump from ledge to ledge, using the Potion of Levitation if necessary. Near the very top, you'll find a ledge. Use the Blue Potion to jump all the way across the ledge. Here's where you find the Red Key.
