Square Enix released some new information about its upcoming RPG title Valkyrie Profile: Toga wo Seou Mono (The Accused One). As previously reported, the game's protagonist, Wilfred, uses a powerful magic feather in his struggle against the valkyries. Using the feather in battle will significantly boost the respective character's stats and abilities. Apparently, this massive power up will enable the player to easily dispose of even boss enemies. There is, however, one minor drawback to making frequent use of the feather. The character who uses it will die and there is no way to bring him or her back for the rest of the battle.
Developer tri-Ace is also incorporating a so-called mutual assist system. Active party members will move independently from each other on the field map. Once an enemy appears on the field map, the player can approach the foe with the character currently under his control and decide whether he wants to fight the opposition. If the other party members are within reach to attack the enemy, they will automatically join the battle.
Another system introduced by Valkyrie Profile: Toga wo Seou Mono is the active formation system. When four party members are taking part in a battle, their position towards each other and the enemy becomes important. Certain formations, so-called active formations are rewarded by the game with special effects and bonuses.
Valkyrie Profile: Toga wo Seou Mono has yet to receive an official release date in Japan.
