Warner Bros. and Tt Games have set a date and are putting a ring on Lego The Hobbit. The title, which we previewed yesterday, will be coming on April 8.
The minifig adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, and the 13 dwarves will span the first two movies in Peter Jackson’s second Middle-earth trilogy. No details have been announced about how the third movie will be handled.
Lego The Hobbit is the latest in a long line of games based on the popular building toys. The last two titles in the franchise, The Lego Movie Video Game and Lego Marvel Super Heroes, both met with positive critical reception. Lego The Hobbit will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, and PC.

Our Take
The Lego games have become formulaic, but that doesn’t make them any less enjoyable. As I mentioned in my preview, Lego The Hobbit introduces a few new things (weapon switching and combo attacks) and carries over some of the elements introduced in Lego The Movie (kit building).
