Friend of mine has a PSP-2000. It is running 5.00 M33-6 CFW, it is a hackable, pandora-able motherboard.
He's been having a strange intermittent issue with the sound. It started out isolated to playing PSX eboots, the sound would just cut out, but apparently it's reached the point where there's no sound period, for anything.
AFAIK:
If he reformats flash1 and runs off of the AC adapter, he has sound. The volume is set to the default level. In his own words, "The first few times I press the volume button, nothing happens. After a delay of about three seconds, it just depletes to empty like I was holding the minus button, and then nothing can change it after that." The sound will also apparently go dead by itself, even when he doesn't touch the volume buttons.
I'm stumped, this is out of my league and the PSP is in another country so I'm having to troubleshoot-by-IM. I don't think it's a hardware issue unless his sound buttons are fubar. I thought maybe something got corrupted in the CFW install, like sound drivers or something, but I don't know how he could go about fixing it. He also seems to be using a hardmodded Pandora battery as his normal day-to-day battery, not sure if this would have any relation to the problem or not.
I don't know what else to say. If there's any more information I can wring out of him, I'll update. ATM, he's updating to 5.50 GEN-D3 in the hopes that it'll fix the sound.
UPDATE - Right out of the upgrade, still no sound. =/
