Jagex might have done to expand the life expectancy of Runescape?

What do you think is the best? Do you think you could offer an alternative but still within 30 mil? Maybe a bandos item? I'm not a fan of the fighter/tasset combination however, just an idea. Three options appeal to me. I just really need to know which costly item is the best value (fury, DFS, BGS).
I'm a Runecrafter One of my absolute favorite things to make is Astral Runes. I'm able to create doubles which usually nets me a HUGE income, however recently Astrals have fallen in value. This is why I've had to switch towards Nature Runes which I don't enjoy crafting as much.
I'm aware this Bonus Experience Weekend played it's role in reducing prices for almost everything, but damn... This is ridiculous. The current price for Astral Runes has been set at 121 gold Pieces per. This is 22gp above Pure Essense which is shocking to say the least. Fortunately, I can craft doubles so I'd still be able to make a slight profit. (Astrals were up during the last few days, but dropped from 125 to 121 on the day. A good thing I traded mine in advance.)
My armor now comprises of: Dragon Med Helm, Rune Platebody with rune platelegs and boots of lightness and combat bracelets Dragon scimi/longsword only my Lumbridge task ring 2 and Power Amulet. I recently received 70 def and asked one of my friends what is best for levels 70 and up, however they range and mage so I just wanted to check here for confirmation that I am not alone in my opinions.
