bricking

Since hacking has the risk of ruining a PSP by bricking it I'd like to ask a few questions about bricking. 1)What are the signs of a PSP that's going to brick? 2)What should I do if my PSP is bricked? 3)What are the main causes of bricking? Thank you for any help you can give me.
