3.80 m33-5 psp 2001

Hello mods and staffs please help me upgrade my psp....psp2001 system info said it has 3.80 m33-5 filmware...how can i upgrade this? WHAT ARE THE DOs AND DONTs TO AVOID MY PSP BEING USELESS they called it brick if im not wrong....sorry im kinda newbie about psp so please provide a "detailed/step by step" procedure mam and sir...hope you can help me about this problem...because i got lag and some games does not work on my current filmware..and please use newbie terms :)) godbless u all
