D-Pad is Shot

I accidentally spilled a little bit of water/soup on my PSP last night, which I immediately wiped. All seemed well, all the buttons worked fine I played my music and everything. However in the morning I turned on my PSP to see what time it was and my XMB immediately went all the way to the right and I wasn't touching the D-Pad, no buttons are stuck down might I add, and if I try to press any buttons the XMB will spaz out and go left then immediately right ate a very fast speed.
I believe since the PSP is still booting up and going to XMB that the motherboard is fine and in working condition but as a precaution I have removed the battery and it's sitting on a shelf for a few days until I touch it again.
I've talked to one of my friends and he told me that he can replace my D-Pad for me for free tomorrow, I've never worked with the entrails of the PSP slim before, only the phat so I'm not sure if replacing the D-Pad would help, or is even possible.
Also since I have this thread up; Is it possible to replace the analog stick on the slim? If I remember correctly it's physically connected to the motherboard.

PSA: we do not support cheating for online/mobile/multiplayer games, which may include trainers,
mod menu's, Exploits, Hacks, Tools & Macros, Bots and so on. (we do allow the posting of such for offline/single player games hoewever, online and multiplayer games is where we draw the line. Phone apps/games for example typically offer a storefront to purchase ingame currency for example; whether it's singleplayer or not, in such games, the aforementioned is not allowed.)
