ssd

SSD stands for Solid State Drive. It is a storage device used in computers that uses flash memory to store data persistently. Unlike a traditional hard disk drive (HDD), which uses spinning platters and a read/write head, SSDs have no moving parts. This makes them faster, more durable, and less susceptible to shock damage than HDDs.

Here are some of the benefits of SSDs over HDDs:

  • Faster boot times and application loading times
  • Improved responsiveness and overall system performance
  • Lower power consumption
  • Silent operation

SSDs are typically more expensive than HDDs per gigabyte of storage, but the price gap has been narrowing in recent years. As SSDs become more affordable, they are becoming the preferred storage option for many users.

There are two main types of SSDs: SATA and NVMe. SATA SSDs use the same interface as traditional HDDs, making them easy to install in most computers. NVMe SSDs are newer and faster than SATA SSDs, but they require a compatible motherboard slot.
