The two (2) NES Controllers are identical and can be plugged into
any socket number, but the select and start buttons will work
only on the controller plugged into socket #1. For one-player
games or when you are playing a game alone, the controller must
be plugged into socket #1.

SELECT - Each Game Pak may contain several variations of the
game. The *select* button is used to choose the particualar
variation you want to play from the menu displayed on the screen
at the beginning of the game.

[PAGE 4]

START - After selecting the game variation you want from the
menu, push the *start* button to begin the game. The *start*
button can also be used to pause the game. Pushing the *start*
button in the middle of a game will cause it to "freeze" until
you push the *start* button again.

NOTE: Some games may have no pause function or may have a
different function for botht the *select* and *start* buttons.
Consult the instruction manual for the Game Pak you are using.

A-B BUTTONS - The *A* and *B* buttons are used for the majority
of game play. On each game, the *A* and *B* buttons will have a
different function. Consult the instruction manual for the Game
Pak you are using.

CONTROL PAD - The *control pad* is used for moving game
characters around the screen, and will be different for each
game. Consult the instruction manual for the Game Pak you are
using.

PROPER CARE OF THE NES CONTROLLERS

* Avoid exposure to high temperature, humidity or sever shocks.
* Keep in a clean, dry place. Water or foreign substances in
the connectors, plugs, control pad or buttons will adversely
effect operation.
* Use a soft damp cloth to remove any stains. Do not use
abrasives, alcohol or solvents to clean.
* When disconnecting an NES Controller from any socket, grasp
the connector and pull slowly. *DO NOT* pull on the cord as
damage may result. (Make sure the Control Deck power is off.)
